Calvary Connect – August 2024
Dear Calvary Family,
This week we completed our journey through the wisdom of Ecclesiastes, and the summary has been ringing in my soul: “The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”
—Ecclesiastes 12:13
Jesus connects our keeping God’s commands with our love for Him (John 14:15), and in the next chapter tells us “If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.”
Jesus isn’t just our example of obedience, and enjoying the love of God, he is also the means by which we have to ability to abide with God.
My hope is that we will truly believe that all our pleasure we are looking for is found in Christ and the gifts he gives us to enjoy. Our young people enjoyed it at camp this month, with one of the boys placing his faith in Jesus! We get to enjoy it together as we gather on Sundays, life-groups, or at beach nights as we eat and fellowship together. We get to enjoy God as we invite others to taste and see that the Lord is good!
So let’s enjoy God as we encourage one another and gather this month in various ways of worship, serving our city, or camping together for His glory and our joy!
