Calvary Connect – September 2024

Calvary Baptist Church   -

Dear Calvary Family,

Happy New Year! Well, kind of… Different cultures celebrate the new year in different ways, and at different times depending on the type of calendar they use. In many ways our church culture seems to run on a calendar that is similar to a school year. You hopefully had some rhythms of rest this summer, and we were able to enjoy leisurely fellowship at beach nights, family camping, and spend some extended time with a few of our missionaries. Even if you don’t have school aged children, our lives seem to take on a different pace and rhythm as we enter the Autumn. I’m grateful for different seasons of life- it sure makes life more interesting and enjoyable, and we grow in different ways during different seasons.

With that in mind, I want to remind you of some great ways to engage in community this fall at Calvary Baptist. September is in many ways the start of the ministry year for us at CBC. This Sunday will begin a new teaching series called Family Traits, where we will walk through our refreshed purpose statement so we can walk together as a church to the high calling God has called us to, as we follow Jesus.

We will also kick off the fall with an All Church Picnic following the Sunday Service at Lake Park (register at the link below), as well as launch our new branding and have some fun swag you can purchase!

We will also be starting up our new rhythms of LifeGroups next week. The goal of every group is to grow in personal affection for Jesus, His Word, and His people so that we might become more like Jesus. I want to encourage us all to join a Group this fall; it’s more important than ever to engage in community and to be known in meaningful ways. You can use the link below to join a LifeGroup.

We will also be changing how we deliver our equipping ministry. Most of our Sunday morning classes will now be delivered mid-week, and in other ways. Stay tuned for more on that schedule beginning in October.

I love our church, and I’m grateful for the way that Jesus has led Calvary for the past 60 years, and grateful for how he will continue to lead us in this next season as we love Him, each other, and our community.

See you Sunday! Soli Deo Gloria!
